Audition Information for Honor Choir
24 voices (6 of each voice part) will make up the ensemble known as Honor Choir. Honor Choir will perform for Choral Festival, Home Concerts, and Contests. This ensemble will be divided into 2 -12 voice groups. Chamber Choir will sing for community events and at our Lutheran Elementary Schools. Chapel Choir will travel and sing in Association Congregations.
Honor Choir will be divided into 2 choirs based on balance and blend after the large group has been auditioned.
Division and group size is subject to change based on the auditions.

Sight Singing and Tonal Memory (15%)
Sight Singing will consist of 12 bars of music that you have never seen. The first note will be given.
For each Tonal Memory exercise, the example will be played twice before you will be expected to sing it back. These range from 5-7 pitches.
Unaccompanied Patriotic Selection (15%)
Soprano: (high note ‘G’, key of Bb) America (My Country ‘tis of Thee) (Start on Tonic [Bb])
Alto: (low note ‘G’, key of F) America the Beautiful (Start on Dominant [C])
Tenor: (high note ‘F’, key of Ab) America (My Country ‘tis of Thee) (Start on Tonic [Ab])

This is to be any solo you wish to use to demonstrate the abilities of your voice. It does not need to be memorized, although presentation and preparedness will also be considered in the solo score. An accompanist will be provided or you may bring your own or use a CD/mp3.
